CEOs Getting a Free Pass

With the economy getting worse by the minute, many poor performing CEOs are using the economy to hide their lackluster performance. Nearly every publicly traded company has lost a significant portion of their market share in the past 6 months due to the recession. What I find interesting is that if the economy hadn’t plummeted, several CEOs such as Bob Iger and Jeffrey Immelt would be in the hot seat. However, thanks to the miserable economy, these bigger than life low performing CEOs are getting a free-pass from shareholders and the media. So why aren’t there more Bob Iger news stories and Jeffrey Immelt news stories and just more poor performing ceo news stories in general?
As both a Disney and General Electric shareholder I want to see more Disney news stories about the awful performance of Disney’s stock. Why aren’t there more General Electric news stories about the horrible drop in GE’s stock price.
Am I missing any other poor performing CEOs, I wouldn’t be surprised. If you’d like to mention a CEO that is getting a free pass out of the recent economic recession, comment below!
